In recognition of the importance of greater inclusion in the legal industry, Archer & Greiner (“Archer”), one of the largest full-service New Jersey law firms, announced the establishment of the Archer & Greiner, P.C. Diversity Scholarship with Seton Hall University School of Law (“Seton Hall Law School”), located in Newark, NJ. In order to promote the success of students from underrepresented backgrounds, preference will be given to diverse students. In addition to other criteria required by Seton Hall Law School, which would include demonstrating how the applicant has promoted and supported diversity, applicants will be asked to submit a short essay outlining how they have overcome adversity in their life. Interested students will apply during their first year of law school and will be chosen prior to the start of their second year. The scholarship would be used to relieve tuition costs for the second year and, if stated academic requirements are satisfied, their third year as well. The recipient of the scholarship award will also have the opportunity to participate in Archer’s Summer Associate Internship Program upon completion of their second year of law school. Archer’s summer associates gain real-world experience working with firm attorneys, staff and clients. The program serves as the base from which entry-level attorneys are hired. Diversity and inclusion have been a cornerstone of Archer since the firm’s founding and have never been more important. The establishment of the Archer & Greiner, P.C. Diversity Scholarship is an important initiative to continue to support the development of all perspectives to ensure the diversification of the legal profession, as well as to help cultivate a culture within the legal profession where all talented contributors can have a path to long-term success. In announcing the scholarship, Christopher Gibson, Archer president said, “We are excited to be partnering with Seton Hall Law School, whose many alumni work at Archer, and thrilled to sponsor this scholarship. It is our hope that through efforts such as this we will continue to keep diversity and inclusion front and center as we work toward a profession that is more representative of the communities we serve.” At Seton Hall Law School, diversity in all its forms is an essential part of the school’s culture. Dean Kathleen Boozang of Seton Hall Law School said, “Seton Hall Law takes a 360-degree approach to achieving diversity and equity – the question infuses every decision we make. Ultimately, Seton Hall Law aspires to achieve outstanding outcomes for every member of our community, which requires thought and investment. We are grateful to Archer Law for making that investment in Seton Hall Law students.”
