AECOM, the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, announced today that John C. Phillips has joined the firm as associate vice president and education studio leader for New York Metro. Mr. Phillips brings more than 20 years of architecture design experience to this role, including extensive work with a variety of public and private educational institutions. “From his breadth of experience, John has a deep understanding and vision for the future of academic design,” said Kim Vierheilig, lead of AECOM’s New York Metro Buildings + Places practice. “Working collaboratively with his academic clients, John fuses their unique needs and vision with his experience to provide innovative solutions. As lead of AECOM's New York Metro education team, he will grow the practice and focus on elevating client experiences.” Prior to joining AECOM, Mr. Phillips was a senior associate for a New York City-based architecture firm, managing projects in collaboration with higher education, research, and cultural clients to provide services such as renovations, additions, new buildings, and energy and infrastructure upgrades. These sophisticated and technologically complex projects were delivered with his senior-level involvement during all phases. This approach ensured successful implementation of design concepts and client satisfaction. “I am thrilled to join AECOM and have the opportunity to lead and grow the education practice in New York,” Mr. Phillips said. “AECOM’s structure provides the same level of personalized attention as a small architecture firm, but with the expansive resources and support of a multidisciplinary engineering firm. This results in innovative solutions that better meet client needs. As a design professional, I am committed to integrating the client’s vision with AECOM’s expertise to produce a built environment that exceeds expectations.” Mr. Phillips earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati. He is a member of the American Institute of Architecture, where his projects have earned multiple design awards.
