Three members of Kearny Bank’s Compliance / BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) team – which helps maintain the bank’s full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including government initiatives to combat money laundering and other nefarious activities – were recently promoted in recognition of their ongoing, individual efforts. Ken Helmrich, a West Milford resident based at the bank’s Van Houten Avenue branch in Clifton, is now 1st Vice President, BSA/OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) Officer. He manages the bank’s BSA/AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and OFAC compliance programs, reporting directly to John Dunne, Kearny Bank’s Executive Vice President/Chief Risk Officer. A Fordham University graduate with a bachelor’s in Business Administration/Management, Helmrich earned a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist designation from the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists, of which he’s a member. He also holds a Certified Financial Crime Specialist designation from the Association of Certified Financial Crime Specialists. Garfield resident Silvia Merino-Topley is now 2nd Vice President / Senior Compliance Officer, based at the bank’s Van Houten Avenue branch in Clifton. She reports directly to Kearny Bank Senior Vice President / Chief Compliance and CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) Officer Nancy Malinconico, and focuses on bringing outsourced compliance reviews in house, while building Kearny Bank’s Lending Compliance Review Program. Merino-Topley holds a bachelor’s in International Business and Marketing from Montclair State University and is a member both of the New Jersey Bankers Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council and the New Jersey Bankers Women in Banking Committee. Now 2nd Vice President / Senior Compliance Officer, Yvonne Louro of Neptune focuses primarily on ensuring loan and deposit compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Working in the Oakhurst branch, she, like Merino-Topley, reports to Malinconico. Louro holds a bachelor’s in Business Administration, with an Accounting concentration, from Monmouth University. She earned a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager designation from the American Bankers Association. “The members of our Compliance / BSA team provide a crucial service in safeguarding the bank’s overall reputation and integrity,” says Kearny Bank Executive Vice President / Chief Risk Officer John Dunne. “Through these promotions, we’re pleased to recognize Ken, Silvia, and Yvonne’s various contributions.”
