When open enrollment for individuals begins on Sunday, November 1, New Jersey residents can choose from 16 different AmeriHealth New Jersey health plans for 2021. The plans consist of HMOs and EPOs across the bronze, silver and gold metallic tiers. “We have been consistently offering individual health plans for New Jersey residents since the federally facilitated marketplace first opened,” said AmeriHealth New Jersey Market President Mike Munoz. “How health insurance is purchased may be different this year, but what hasn’t changed is the comprehensive options we offer and the personalized commitment to service we provide our members.” For 2021 New Jersey is transitioning to a state-based exchange, Get Covered New Jersey. In New Jersey all residents are required to have health care coverage, and this year consumers who purchase or renew a health plan through Get Covered New Jersey may be eligible for a new state-based subsidy, in addition to the existing federal subsidy. “We are proud to be the number one plan[1] on the New Jersey Health Insurance Marketplace,” said Munoz. “As we transition to the state-based exchange, we will continue to provide a wide range of health plans that offer comprehensive coverage at rates that ensure a sustainable market in New Jersey.” Off exchange plans offer affordable alternatives New Jersey residents also have the option of purchasing a health plan off exchange directly from AmeriHealth New Jersey, which offers some cost-saving alternatives. There are 16 plans available off exchange, including three plans in the Select Suite that provide a 10 percent savings compared to similar on-exchange plans. AmeriHealth New Jersey’s off exchange Select Suite plans are the most affordable option in the Silver tier. Off-exchange health plans are not subsidy eligible. Regardless of whether health care coverage is purchased on or off exchange, individuals are encouraged to make health plan selections by November 30, 2020 to ensure ID card delivery by January 1, 2021.
