SobelCo, a Livingston-based Cer??fied Public Accounting and Advisory firm with offices in Woodcliff Lake, NJ and Paoli, PA, recently announced that Carolyn J. D’Anna, CPA, has joined the firm to serve as their first Chief Operating Officer. “Unprecedented times often result in unprecedented opportunities,” noted the firm’s Managing Partner, Alan Sobel. “Our firm has flourished for more than six decades since we were founded in 1956 in Newark, New Jersey. We have enjoyed consistent organic growth over the years and combined with several significant mergers, we have steadily expanded our service offerings and presence in the community. As a result, we have emerged as one of the key leaders in the tristate area and in the profession, ranked as the 10th fastest growing accounting firm in the U.S. for 2019 by Accounting Today. Recognizing that with growth comes change and new responsibilities, the importance of bringing an experienced COO on board became even more apparent than ever. The SobelCo leadership team agreed unanimously that Carolyn has the balanced blend of practical professional service experience, coupled with executive level operations capabilities to make her the perfect choice for the firm’s first COO. Carolyn had spent her entire career at JH Cohn (the predecessor to CohnReznick), advancing to an Accounting and Audit partner, and ultimately assumed responsibility as the Chief Human Resource Officer at the firm, which is one of the nation’s largest accounting firms. A graduate of Pace University, Carolyn is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a recipient of the NJCPA Diversity and Inclusion Impact Award. When Carolyn was asked what the transition to a new firm would mean for her, she said, “While serving in the role of Chief Human Resource Officer at CohnReznick, my responsibilities included working closely with other key executives in finance, technology, operations and strategy. As such, I had the opportunity to assume an influential role in the exponential growth of a major regional firm – and it is that experience that I will draw on extensively in order to add value to SobelCo clients and colleagues as the firm continues on its own exciting growth trajectory.”
