Genova Burns LLC, one of the top law firms serving New Jersey and the greater northeast, announced today that two of its attorneys were included as part of a pair of prestigious media rankings in the region. Jennifer Borek, a Partner in Genova Burns’ Jersey City office, was distinguished as one of NJBiz’s Best 50 Women in Business. Michael McQueeny, Counsel in the firm’s Newark office and Co-Chair of Genova Burns’ Cannabis Law Group, was named to Irish Echo’s list of 40 under 40. “Jennifer and Michael are both prime contributors to our overall success and commitment to excellence here at Genova Burns,” said Angelo Genova, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Genova Burns, LLC. “We are tremendously proud that these prestigious media outlets have recognized the talent and skill in these two accomplished lawyers. Jennifer and Michael are both talented and inspiring professionals, and we congratulate them on these recognitions.” Borek is chair of Genova Burns’ Procurement Law, Government Contracts and Bid Protest litigation practice groups. She argues complex cases in state and federal courts, including the Appellate Division and Third Circuit, before administrative agencies, and in arbitrations. A resident of Bloomfield, Borek manages legal teams from the first client contact through the conclusion of the trial. Her practice focuses on litigation in commercial law, public procurement matters, Open Public Records Act (OPRA) litigation, land use, redevelopment and condemnation cases. In addition, Borek works on commercial lease disputes, environmental matters and construction law claims as well as wrongful termination, discrimination and Fair Labor Standards Act collective actions. She is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Seton Hall School of Law. A resident of Westfield, McQueeny was recently promoted to Counsel in January 2020. An accomplished thought leader in the field of legal cannabis, McQueeny is active in advising businesses – including investors, processors, distributors, retailers and cultivators – on various aspects of the legal cannabis industry. He counsels clients on issues regarding licensing, funding, and operation, as well as advising cannabis and CBD-related entities on federal and state legislation, regulations, and local laws governing the growth, processing, sale and use of cannabis. Outside of the cannabis industry, McQueeny litigates complex commercial matters in both state and federal courts. He handles a wide range of business litigation matters, including issues involving commercial disputes, shareholder/LLC membership disputes, real estate, foreclosures, tax, bankruptcy, and debtor and creditor rights actions. McQueeny is a graduate of Syracuse University and the Villanova School of Law, and was a 2018 Fellow of Lead New Jersey.
