Bob Gordon, a former state senator and Board of Public Utilities commissioner — and a renowned policy wonk — has joined Stevens & Lee Public Affairs as a vice president. At Stevens & Lee, Gordon will team up with Skip Cimino, a former assemblyman and member of Gov. Jim Florio’s cabinet, and some other New Jersey politics veterans. “I am thrilled to be joining Skip Cimino and his impressive team at Stevens & Lee Public Affairs. Throughout my career, I have sought avenues to shape public policy in New Jersey and the institutions that affect the quality of life in our state,” Gordon said. “SLPA offers an opportunity to continue my work on clean energy initiatives, public infrastructure, transportation policy, and other areas of interest, while serving our clients and building a first-class public affairs firm.” Gordon served as mayor of Fair Lawn and as an assemblyman before capturing a State Senate seat in 2007. He was chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, Majority Conference Leader, and head of the Senate Manufacturing Caucus. Early in his career, he worked on Ed Muskie’s presidential campaign, at the President’s Council on Environmental Quality, and the Congressional Budget Office. He left the Senate in 2018 after Gov. Phil Murphy nominated him to serve on the BPU, where he was involved in developing New Jersey’s renewable energy policy. Gordon left the BPU earlier this year and remains a member of the New Jersey Transit board. “I am extraordinarily pleased to welcome Senator Gordon to Stevens & Lee Public Affairs. During the course of his career, he has served at every level of government and worked with the most senior leaders of the business community,” said Cimino. “In addition to that stellar resume, Bob brings a reputation for policy expertise, extensive bipartisan relationships, and experience that spans the public and private sectors. He will be a huge asset to the firm as we help our clients address issues at the intersection of government and business.” Also joining Stevens & Lee is Dennis Culnan, Jr., a former executive director at the South Jersey Transportation Authority and manager of Siemens AG’s $100 million North American locomotive division. Stevens & Lee is a professional services firm involved in law, public finance, and government consulting. Also at Stevens & Lee Public Affairs is former BPU staffer Erick Ford, former Princeton municipal attorney Maeve Cannon, state government veteran Patrick D. Kennedy, and cannabis law expert Catie MacDuff.
