The Medical Center is being recognized for reducing its carbon footprint (Paramus, NJ) – Paramus, NJ – Bergen New Bridge Medical Center was selected for a CIANJ/COMMERCE Magazine Environmental Leadership Award in the Reducing Carbon Footprint category. The award was presented at a ceremony at The Highlawn on Friday, April 21 after a panel of independent judges reviewed numerous nominations in each category. “As the nation’s fourth largest publicly owned hospital, we keep looking for more and better ways to improve our infrastructure and make changes to become a more sustainable and eco-friendlier Medical Center,” said Deborah Visconi, President and CEO, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. “Achievements like this cannot happen without the support and collaboration of the County of Bergen and the Bergen County Improvement Authority, and the excellent work of our facilities team who make enhancements to the campus daily.” The Medical Center was selected for the award because of a carbon abatement project which upgraded the air handling system in Building 11, which has long term care residents, and acute, ICU and CCU patients. The facilities team, supported by the County of Bergen and the Bergen County Improvement Authority and in partnership with PSEG, installed four energy efficient motors to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality. This enhancement addressed both air quality and carbon emissions and is only one of numerous environmental initiatives at Bergen New Bridge. “I want to congratulate all our winners for the important work that they do. CIANJ would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the part these companies play in keeping New Jersey a safe, beautiful, and clean place to live, work, and conduct business,” said Anthony Russo, President, CIANJ. “We look forward to hosting this awards ceremony every year to honor our members who are making a real environmental difference.” ABOUT BERGEN NEW BRIDGE MEDICAL CENTER Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (BNBMC), a clinical affiliate of Rutgers, is a 1,070-bed hospital located at 230 East Ridgewood Avenue in Paramus, NJ.
